Gold Medalist Henry Cejudo to Headline School of Champions Fall Clinic November 7th

The School of Champions, based out of Minneapolis, provides wrestling instruction aimed at improving the training of athletes of all ages proudly announces 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Henry Cejudo as the headliner for its second annual School of Champions Fall Clinic. Cejudo became the youngest U.S. wrestler to win a gold medal with his victory over Japan’s Tomohiro Matsunaga at 121 pounds in Beijing. The 21-year-old American was the country’s only gold medal wrestler in the 2008 Games.

“The School of Champions is committed to the development of Minnesota wrestlers of all ages,” stated Cole Konrad, Director of the School of Champions. “We are honored to have a wrestler of the caliber of Henry Cejudo able to come in and show his dynamic techniques to our athletes.” Cejudo made waves by electing to forego wrestling glory at the collegiate level and focus exclusively on world and Olympic competition. After making his first senior level World Team in 2007, Cejudo, a four-time high school state champion, won the first of what’s expected to be numerous medals on the world’s biggest stage.

Since his Olympic performance, Cejudo has been a guest on dozens of television programs including the Oprah Winfrey Show and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. “Henry is the type of wrestler a lot of young kids can relate to because he’s so much closer to their age then other current wrestling icons,” said Konrad. “Henry’s youthful exuberance is fully welcomed and we’re excited to have this opportunity to allow our wrestlers to have a chance to get this clinic with such a spirited and dedicated young athlete.”

The School of Champions Fall Clinic will take place November 7, 2008 at Bloomington Kennedy High School in Bloomington, MN from 7-9pm with registration to begin at 6:30 pm with an autograph and photo opportunity to follow the clinic.

"My son has attended the School of Champions for two years and is looking forward to the upcoming session. He really loves the intensity of the sessions and is motivated to work hard when he is in a room filled with many of Minnesota's finest talent. The instructors dissect every move and take the time to answer questions. I think SOC is an excellent opportunity for any wrestlers to get ahead of the competition, as long as they are willing to learn."
